Ms.Muz - A HipHop EP

For her diploma Hilal Avci created a HipHop rapper persona called Ms.Muz. Together with producers Guilty Pressure and LiquidLuko she wrote and composed many tracks and distilled them into a 4 track EP. In her texts she adresses her own cultural background. As a child of turkish parents she grew up in Germany. This mix of cultures, the East and the West, is at the core of her lyrics and music, where she mixes german with turkish.

The story of the music video KAPIKULE is about her car journey from Austria to the border crossing point of turkey, Kapi Kule, and further to the hometown Adana, where the family awaits her for Ramadan.

This route, from western europe to rural turkey, has a special name: Sila Yolu. It refers to turkish guest worker families with migration background, like her family, who traveled by car back „home“ every summer vacation.

The music video KAPIKULE is a visual dedication to the memorys of her childhood: an exciting road trip from one home to another. Intertwined with dreamy visions of childhood experiences and stories of her grandparents.
